WOMEN'S HEALTH, GROUND ZERO, FERTILITY, CREATIVITY, the HOMELESS, and PSORIASIS - Dr. M's RESEARCH ARTICLES

Chiropractors, writers, and people trying to get well contact me often to request one of my previous articles. My work has appeared in a variety of formats and places, so here is my initial attempt at organizing my article trail.

Following are research articles I've authored/co-authored, published at the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation (www.jvsr.com).
The abstracts are available online to everyone, for non-subscribers the full article may be purchased individually.

1) The Role and Relationship of Chiropractic and Women's Health Issues - A Call for Research

2) Insult, Interference and Infertility:
An Overview of Chiropractic Research

3) Chiropractic Rescue and the American Tragedy:
The Chiropractic Relief Effort at Ground Zero
(co-author Dr. John Przybylak, D.C.)

4) Chiropractic for Humanity:
Chiropractic Care for the Homeless, Hungry, and Isolated
(co-author Dr. Anita Morgenstern, D.C.)

5) The Reduction of Psoriasis in a Patient under Network Spinal Analysis Care: A Case Report

6) Benchmarking Chiropractors as Members of the Creative Class:
A Consideration of Place, Play, Professional and Personal Lives

I'm proud of my co-authors, and that the articles have been able to help so many people, especially the Fertility article.
And the Ground Zero article can still make me cry, even now - countless readings later.

Chiropractic on the table and on the page, it works!

AN ALLERGY TIP FROM THE WORLD WRESTLING RINGMASTER

Would people take an allergy tip from the World Wrestling Ringmaster?
Yes, this article from Psychology Today has been a bit hit in my office.

Lilian Garcia, the above mentioned ringmaster, had allergies. Bad allergies.
As in allergies that were affecting her ringmaster job and her career as a recording artist.
She was miserable and didn't know what to do, so she asked around.

And she took a tip.
From singer-songwriter Jon Secada:
go see a chiropractor.

If you are under chiropractic care, you have a good idea of what happened.
If you are not and have allergies, keep reading!

WebMD REPORTS CHIROPRACTIC CUTS BLOOD PRESSURE....

WebMD's Hypertension/High Blood Pressure Health Center reports "a special chiropractic adjustment can significantly lower high blood pressure..."

"This procedure has the effect of not one, but two blood-pressure medications given in combination," study leader George Bakris, MD tells WebMD.

No side effects or problems were seen, the chiropractic adjustment was described as adverse-event free.

On average, the patients studied experienced a 14 mm Hg greater reduction in their systolic blood pressure and 8 mm Hg reduction in their diastolic blood pressure.
This is great news as chronic blood pressure can lead to arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries), stroke, congestive heart failure, and eventually kidney failure.

Just as interesting as the study result is the backstory of why the study got started:
A medical doctor found that when he referred patients to a local
chiropractor, those with high blood pressure experience a normalization
in their blood pressure after receiving chiropractic care.

I'm always thrilled when research catches up to what I see happening in practice.
And while the news of people receiving chiropractic adjustments and normalizing their blood pressure is not news to me, I see it all the time in practice, it is great news to have this study done and posted on WebMD.

All the time, I encourage people to add a chiropractor to their team of health and wellness providers - new benefits of chiropractic care are being discovered and reported more and more frequently.
In May, I will post a special scan offer for people with hypertension who would like to learn more about chiropractic.
Details soon.

The next step for this project: This first study involved 50 patients total. Based on the results a larger study is now being designed.
I'll be sure to look for it and post the results.

THE EARTH DAY 2007 PARTY IS OVER, LEFTOVERS ARE BEING REDUCED, REUSED, AND RECYCLED.....

Earth Day 2007, people celebrated till they turned green.

People got pumped up.
They got busy replacing light bulbs, bringing in their own grocery bags, and recycling bottles and paper.

But what happens now that the celebrating is over?
Now that the news has moved onto the next holiday cycle (Mother's Day!, Mother's Day!).

We human beings are creatures of habit.....aren't we?
And until new habits are ingrained into a lifestyle, it is oh soooo tempting to be caught up in the
flow of an event, peak at the party, and once the party is a memory so are all those new habits.

So let's remember that everyday is Earth Day, and the simplest green choices can make a significant difference to just how well humans live now and for generations to come.

One of my favorite ways for busy people to remember is the goal/reward approach.
My goal: The first Monday of each month, I will post my favorite Green Checklist.
I'll use it to create a "green score" so that I can track my progress each month.
My reward: It will be fabulous, and I'll keep it to myself.

Living green isn't about perfection, it's about progress. Everyone can do something.
So count on seeing the checklist.
Readers can prepare now by figuring out how to reward themselves for all their green choices.

Why am I willing to make the commitment to posting every month?
I have seen a significant difference in wellness when people switch to non-toxic household products. Living green works.
Let it work for you.

IMAGINE YOUR FEET ARE REALLY, REALLY HAPPY

Typically people spend spring and summer pounding their feet into
tired, overused, cranky stubs. If you are grinning now, consider yourself busted.

The wear and tear on feet is of significant concern to me because this can create wear and tear on the rest of the body, especially the spine.
And many of you know what kind of trouble that leads to.

What to do?

Tip 1: I give my feet some extra love by doing some really simple and fun exercises that can help increase their stablitity and flexibility.

Here's a link that includes 8 of my favorites exercises (I especially love #8).
www.aravonshoes.com/p_hf_exercises.php

I think about how taking care of my feet can help hold my adjustments.
You can think about how good the rest of your body can feel.

And to keep everyone on their toes, I'll post more fabulous feet tips later in the season.

So, IMAGINE your feet are really, really happy......
